I've finally put my last nail into the 2015 coffin and really embracing the new look and feel of 2016. It's like driving a new car. It smells good, feels good and everything about it excites me. It's fresh and full of possibility!

If you haven't done so already I highly recommend that you sit down and take some time to create a vision of what you want this year to look like.

A vision is an integral part of every company. It's a means of communicating company values and goals to every staff member so that everybody understands and sees the road ahead of them. Having a vision will give you a clear focus, and can stop you heading in the wrong direction.

Why should companies have all the fun? Setting a vision for yourself is a powerful way to manifest your ideal life. You can't hit a target you can't see right?

Human beings are wired to thrive with clear goals ahead of them. When we see something in front of us that we desire our body releases a little bit of dopamine, a neurotransmitter that helps control the brain's reward and pleasure centers. The closer you get to that object of your desire, the more dopamine your body releases until you get there. This was created for our own survival so that we would go the distance in the hunt of food.

We can use this wiring to achieve our deepest and wildest desires. This is where a Vision Board can really help and be the vision of an ideal life that you desire.

What is a vision board you say? A vision board is typically a collection of beautiful, feeling evoking images, words, or objects that represent what you want to be and do with your life. It's an ever evolving visual tool that is uniquely you.

Start by writing down what you want this vision board to accomplish. What do you need to remember most in your life? Look at all aspects of your life and where you feel you are mostly lacking and need that gentle nudge to remind you of where you want to be. This could include:

  • Your spiritual practice - do you have one? Do you need to create more time to nurture your current one?
  • Creative expression - are you doing enough to express yourself creatively? Do you miss writing/ drawing/ painting/ dancing/ knitting/ cooking/ all of the above?
  • Your finances - Are your fiances stressing your out? What would make you happier? IS there a number you would like to see in your savings account? Do you need another source of income?
  • Career - Are you happy with your job? Do you want to start your own business?
  • Education - Do you feel like you need to upgrade your knowledge base? This doesn't mean university, it could be a short course you've been wanting to do, or simply committing to read more self improvement books. What books do you want to read? Where do you see yourself reading more books?
  • Health - What does being healthy mean to you? Do you need to move more? Eat better? Do more yoga? Do you need to find a great team of professionals to help you get there?
  • Exercise - do you want to try something new? Do you need to do more of it?
  • Home cooking - Are you enjoying cooking? How can you learn to enjoy it more? Do you need to take a cooking course? Do you need to invest in beautiful table wear to enjoy eating at home more?
  • Home environment - are you happy with where you live? What can you do to make it better for you?
  • Relationships - How can you improve your intimate and non-intimate relationships?
  • Social life - do you feel satisfied with your social life? How would you improve it?
  • Joy - are you getting enough joy in your life? What makes you happy? More family holidays? A loving relationship? A cabin in the woods? What ever makes you heart sing, put it on the board.

Find great images, keepsakes, and quotes that reflect all of your desires for 2016 and beyond. Dig out some magazines or head to Pinterest or other blogs to start finding visual reminders of the above desires. Surrounding yourself with reminders of what you love in this world will be your sunlight on cloudy days.

Make it beautiful. Make your vision board visually appealing with embellishments such as ribbon, washi tape, and beautiful quotes. When your life to-do list looks beautiful, you'll be more inclined to take care of everything on it.

Make it personal. Your vision board should include what you're naturally drawn to, not what you think you should be drawn. Use colours and images that make you feel great.

Hang it up where you will see it, everyday. The whole purpose of this exercise is to create a vision to strive for so be proud of your creation and put it somewhere where you can see it.

Have fun. Remember this process needs to be fun! Be playful, daring, and connect to you deepest and wildest desires.

If you're completely stuck why not get a little starter kit like the Wellineux Vision Board kit. This little package has inspiring words, notice board pins and pegs to help tie the whole thing together.

Happy manifesting!
