Would you eat insects? Have you already? Apparently we are already eating about 500g of insects every year!
As our global population grows we are forced to look at sustainable ways of feeding the planet. If going 100% vegan is not an option for you why not look at adding insects as a source of protein.
This TED talk by Marcel Dicke shows how insects are entering kitchen around the world, as delicacies and to adorn fancy plates of food. According to Marcel it takes 10Kgs of feed to get 1Kg of beef but the same 10Kgs of feed will yield 9Kgs of locust meat! This is an impressive return on investment and environmentally worth it.
Has this ever happened to you? You're all pumped up about going to a gym class and need a workout buddy, you call your BFF (naturally) and she's not feeling it. Need a movie date to a new chick flick, speed dial your BFF and she's not there. If you're a mum, have you ever made plans with your fellow BMF (best mum friend) and she cancels on you because her baby is sick, or she's just having a bad day. If you have said yes to any of the above you generally have three options... go on your own, call in the B team, or completely cancel and eat a tub of ice cream because you feel rejected (or is that just me). Never again ladies! Your new BFF could be just a swipe away!
She is the face behind one of my favourite snacks, and the woman behind the lens of popular food pics. You many know her as The Fit Foodie, and if you don't know her now, watch this face, because she is going places! Sally O'Neil is one of the hardest working women I know. She is passionate and and ruthlessly persistent. Her instagram page has inspired over 86k and counting! For anyone new to the business world, Sally is an incredible inspiration having turned her passion for wellness into an incredible business.
In an often isolating world, sharing our experiences as mothers on instagram has helped so many mums connect with other like minded souls going through the same highs and lows. I have loved watching fellow Brisbane super mum of five (yea mama!), Abbey Braithwaite, share her motherhood journey with the world. Her pictures are peppered with tiny fingers grabbing tasty morsels that she prepares and magical adventures with her little people. There is, of course, much more to this beautiful woman than you can share on instagram.
