I can literally count on one hand how many times my husband and I have been on a date since having our son. He's 2.5 years old so in the 908 days of his existence we have been on a date no more than FIVE TIMES! So in an attempt to bring our relationship back to it's glory days, we've set the intention to stop being so "lazy" and make Date Night a thing.
We hit 2016 running and checked in for a relaxing night at The Brisbane Riverview Hotel in Hamilton, Brisbane. Sitting pretty on the widest reach of the Brisbane River our River Executive Room was the perfect spot to kick off our toddler free adventures.
Like two caged animals released into the wild we set off into the wilderness of what used to be our old stomping ground. With Newstead, Fortitude Valley, Hamilton and Portside at your doorstep, the array of dining options is endless. A night of debauchery was not on the cards for us, so we kept it traditional with dinner and a movie at Portside. It was almost like a first date, and dare I say I think we were both nervous, nothing that a cheeky wine or two can't fix.
After the movie we followed the scent of cinnamon donuts to Eat Street markets. It was a sensory overload with upbeat live music, intoxicating aromas and plenty of spots to sit and people watch while enjoying a tasty treat.
Because the hotel was only 2km away we took the opportunity to take a romantic riverside stroll (we held hands) back to our room for a night of pure uninterrupted ... sleep.
I woke up at 6:20am after fighting to go back to sleep from my usual 5am wake up. We took our time getting ready for breakfast, which is included with the Summer Stay Package.
What a treat it was to not have to make your bed in the morning, or clean up the aftermath of the daily breakfast massacre. After our delicious breakfast we took the complimentary vintage style bikes for a cruise around this gorgeous part of town. Brisbane you really know how to turn it on! Could not have been blessed with more perfect weather.
For Brisbane locals I highly recommend the Riverview Hotel for a mini break and change of scenery, especially when you've got little ones and access to baby sitters. If you don't, bring them along because the hotel and staff are 100% kid friendly.

In an often isolating world, sharing our experiences as mothers on instagram has helped so many mums connect with other like minded souls going through the same highs and lows. I have loved watching fellow Brisbane super mum of five (yea mama!), Abbey Braithwaite, share her motherhood journey with the world. Her pictures are peppered with tiny fingers grabbing tasty morsels that she prepares and magical adventures with her little people. There is, of course, much more to this beautiful woman than you can share on instagram.
Winter is finally here, and has brought with it the dry skin, hair and chapped lips. Time to switch up your beauty routine to ensure your skin is protected. Here is the round up of my favourite products at the moment that I use to keep my skin soft, supple and beautiful
