The best foods for a stronger immune system (and less colds this winter)

The cooler weather is dawning upon us, and with it come runny noses, coughs and colds. Now is the time for OCD hygiene, and getting enough of these vital nutrients to help your body defend itself against the looming nasties.
  • Vitamin D - get plenty of sunlight, eat fatty fish, egg yolks, certain mushrooms
  • Vitamin A - found in cayenne, capsicum, pumpkin, sweet potato, and dark leafy greens
  • Zinc - found in spinach, pumpkin seeds, cashews, cocoa and beans
  • Vitamin C - found in dark leafy greens, broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, kiwi, oranges, strawberries, fresh herbs

Getting adequate rest and keeping stress levels at bay is also essential. Drink plentry of water, and keep the junk food and booze to a very low minimum. The less energy your body has to waste detoxing your organs, means more energy to do what it's supposed to do - keep you fit, strong and healthy.
